Breastfeeding Medicine Center of Allied Pediatrics of New York, PLLC
The center is open in the Children’s Medical Group in Plainview and Riverhead.
Dr. Jennifer Shaer of Peconic Pediatrics is both a pediatrician and board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC). She will be seeing patients at the Breastfeeding Center in Plainview once a week. Hours will be expanded as demand grows.
Breastfeeding visits are covered by insurance. Please see below to see accepted insurances. To schedule an appointment you must do several things.
- Call the Peconic Pediatrics office 631-722-8880 and ask for a breastfeeding visit (in Plainview or Riverhead).
- Have the doctor’s office fax a prescription requesting the evaluation (fax to Dr. Shaer at 631-722-7851).
Typical requests for evaluations include:
- Poor latch/feeding problem
- Poor weight gain
- Colin/reflux
- Food allergies
- Some insurance plans will require a referral. If the insurance allows a patient to see any participating provider, a breastfeeding visit can be scheduled with NO referral.
